Group Coaching Levels

Level one (5-8)

In level one (5-8) the focus is on skill development where the young player begins to master the fundamental techniques of tennis.  While this is a time consuming task, the objective is to learn the correct techniques as these foundation skills are vital for proper progress. Students learn correct grips, correct footwork, correct court positioning, as well as tracking the ball and visual skills.

Level two (9-12)

By this stage, the player’s foundation should have been developed which leads them into rallies, court tactics and game play.  This level leads to in-house fixtures and / or inter-centre fixtures.  Coaches are focusing on power and placement. At this stage, additional court practice is very strongly encouraged.  As players progress through this level, private lessons would enhance their development to the next level.

Level two+  (12-15)

Students entering this level can be divided into two categories.  There are some players who are in the age range who would like to begin playing tennis as well as players who have developed their foundation skills as well as game skills and court tactics.

At this level the young players are focusing on the use of spin on the ball (top spin, slice), added power and placement. A certain level of fitness is desired for players to be able to master these shots.  The serious player at this level should start thinking about competing in tournaments.

Level three

Level three players are already a fixture player, have a good knowledge of power and placement, have a required level of fitness and have the opportunity of being a serious player if they wish.
